Your Mayor & Wiltshire Councillor

Unity in Action: Building a Stronger Amesbury Together

I am deeply honoured to have been elected once again as the Mayor of Amesbury on 13 May 2025, and to continue serving as your Wiltshire County Councillor for Amesbury West and Town Councillor for Amesbury for the 2025–2029 term.

This year, my mayoral theme is “Unity in Action: Building a Stronger Amesbury Together.”
It reflects my commitment to working side by side with residents, businesses, volunteers, and fellow councillors to create a more connected, compassionate, and thriving community.

Having previously served as Deputy Mayor in 2022 and 2024 and Mayor in 2023, I have always strived to lead with integrity, transparency, and dedication. I am proud of the progress we’ve made together—from securing Wiltshire Towns Fund support and launching the King Charles Sensory Garden, to initiating the Wiltshire Towns Survey and leading mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

As we enter this new chapter, I will focus on:

  • Strengthening community connections through inclusive events and open forums
  • Delivering infrastructure improvements and championing local projects
  • Supporting older residents, young people, and vulnerable adults
  • Recognising local heroes who go above and beyond for our town
  • Promoting economic development and making Amesbury a destination town

To the residents, volunteers, council officers, and fellow councillors—thank you for your continued trust and support. I promise to serve with unity, action, and unwavering commitment to Amesbury’s future.

Let us continue building a town we can all be proud of—stronger together.

If you’d like to get in touch or share your ideas, you’re always welcome to reach out at monicaforamesbury@gmail.com.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Cllr Dr Monica Devendran

BBC Breakfast - Amesbury Needs a 3rd Pharmacy

22/12/2024

Dr Monica Devendran represents Amesbury West on Wiltshire Council and is also the town's deputy mayor.  She said: "I hear feedback and representations from residents on a day-to-day basis about the difficulties they face, and the current pharmacies are too small for them.  "Amesbury has grown in size. Large developments have come up in King's Gate and Archer's Gate. New houses have been built.  "Residents complain about the waiting period, waits in queues for prolonged periods of time, and some of them have told me about a lack of medication available."

04/01/2024

On 2/11/2023, I have raised the concerns that residents have voiced about the difficulties they are experiencing due to the limitations of the current pharmacies in Amesbury at the Health Select Committee Meeting at County Hall today. I will continue to advocate for the residents of Amesbury and work in partnership with the relevant authorities to actively seek out a resolution to this problem. On 4/01/2024, BBC has covered this news in the media. #residentsfirst #amesbury

Patron | Amesbury Men's Shed

I am absolutely delighted to announce my appointment as the Patron for the Amesbury Men’s Shed, a remarkable  initiative dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being.

This initiative provides a supportive environment where men and women can gather, share experiences, and engage in meaningful activities that foster community, friendship, and personal growth.

As we navigate the complexities of modern life, the importance of mental health cannot be overstated.

The Amesbury Men’s Shed embodies the spirit of camaraderie and connection, offering a safe space for men and women to discuss their challenges, celebrate their successes, and support one another in addition to woodwork and other activities.
I am truly humbled to play a role in such a vital cause.

Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of many, strengthening our communities and promoting mental wellness for all. Let's continue to raise awareness and support initiatives that prioritize mental health and well-being.
